Mohammedan Sporting Club beat Rahmatganj MFS 2-1 in a Bangladesh Premier League match at Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.

The third victory in the last four games led Sean Lane’s team to 39 points from 21 games, one point behind Chatatogram Abahani, while Rahmatanji remained in ninth place with 18 points from 20 games.

The black and whites started the match with the wrong foot, they received a penalty point in the fourth minute, when Atikuzaman threw Felix Cindi Odili in the big area. The Nigerian himself went so far as to give the lead to the Old Dhaka uniform.

Odili almost doubled the lead soon after, but Mohamed goalkeeper Suzanne Hussein twice denied the Nigerian, while at the other end a triple attempt by Mohammedan failed as the goalkeeper or defender or other carpenter worked.

However, there was no rescue of the Old Dhaka uniform when Kamrul Islam made a free kick with his left foot over the head of goalkeeper Ariful Islam in the 39th minute.

The shot of the Mohammedan striker Yasan Ouching hit the crossbar in the 43rd minute as both sides entered the break with a par.

The second half saw much less action, but Mohammedan found the decisive goal in the 71st minute, when defender Mounzir Coulidiati pushed the home team out of the middle of the square, after Habibur Rahman Shohagg’s misplaced corner was badly received by Rahmat defense. Rahmatanj had sent off defender Hursed Beknazarov a few minutes later, dampening their hopes of saving a point.

In the second match of the day, Chattogram Abahani defeated Brother Union, which is threatened with relegation 2-1, to remain in fourth place with 40 points from 21 matches.

Chinedu Matthew gave the city the lead in the 16th minute, but Imtiaz Sultan Jitu canceled it seven minutes later. As the game looked like a draw, substitute Kawsar Ali Rabbi hit home in the fourth quarter, in the fourth minute of the match, to give Chattogram Abahani his fourth triumph victory.
