    RIYADH: Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and visiting Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq held a negotiating meeting in the planned border town of Neom, according to state media.
    In a report, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said that during the summit on Sunday, the two leaders discussed ties and co-operation in various fields between the two countries.
    The summit took place after the Sultan arrived in the Kingdom earlier in the day at the invitation of King Salman, the Xinhua news agency reported.
    This is the first visit by an Omani leader in more than a decade.
    The two-day visit aims to strengthen relations and cooperation in various fields for the interest and steady progress of the peoples of the two countries, the SPA report notes.
    Following the summit, the two nations signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of a Coordinating Council on the countries’ positions on various issues.
    Also during the day, the two countries’ Commerce Ministers also met to discuss ways to promote bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
