After the British Zharnel Hughes was ruled out for a wrong start, increasing the intensity, Jacobs made an explosive start and kept his form for an incredible victory.

Curley, hoping to be the first American winner since Justin Gatlin in 2004, ran well for second place, with De Grasse quickly finishing in an even better one in his life.

Su Bingtian won his semifinal with an Asian record of 9.83 but was never in the mix and finished sixth.
