Police said the 28-year-old woman approached the crossing and “ran towards the forces holding a knife”.
“A political security guard who acknowledged what contributed called her to stop several times,” police said in a statement, adding that when the woman continued to move forward, “the security guard fired several shots.”
Police distributed a photo of the knife they said he was carrying.
Israeli-Palestinian violence erupted last month in intense 11-day fighting between Israeli and Palestinian militants in Gaza. A fragile truce continues to a large extent, although the tension remains high.
