Anthony Fauci hopes for full vaccine approval soon - Times of India
WILMINGTON: The leading US infectious disease expert hopes that the Food and Drug Administration will begin to give full approval to the coronavirus vaccine by the end of the month.
Dr. Anthony Fauci predicts that the potential move will trigger a wave of vaccine orders in the private sector as well as in schools and universities.
The FDA has only approved emergency use for the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. The service is expected to give full approval to Pfizer soon.
The Biden government has said the federal government will not impose vaccinations beyond the federal workforce, but is increasingly urging state and local governments as well as businesses to consider such orders.
Fauci told NBC “Meet the Press” on Sunday that “orders must be made locally” to curb the spread of the virus.
Fauci’s comments come as the Biden government weighs in on the levers it can push to encourage more unvaccinated Americans to make their plans as the delta variation continues to rise in much of the United States.
