At least seven migrants, one of whom was pregnant, were drowned after a boat carrying them five miles off the Italian island of Lampedusa sank yesterday, officials said. About 10 other people were missing, Luigi Patronaggio, the attorney general of a team investigating the deaths, told Reuters. The migrants are believed to have begun their journey in Tunisia. Coast Guard units managed to rescue about 46 other migrants from the 8-meter-long boat after it capsized and bring them back to Lampedusa, officials said. The identities of the victims were not available.
